Ideally, as early as possible. For renovations and new construction, bringing us in before architectural plans and construction decisions are finalized allows us to weigh in on layouts, lighting, millwork, finishes, and other details before they become costly to change.

Our full service interior design covers every stage of a project, from initial concept through installation. We begin by developing the layout and overall design direction, then move into detailed selections for materials, finishes, lighting, millwork, furnishings, and custom pieces. Throughout construction, we coordinate with architects, contractors, and fabricators to carry the design through as intended. We then manage purchasing, delivery, installation, and final styling.

Timelines vary considerably depending on the scope. A furnishing project may take several months, while a substantial renovation or new construction project can take a few months or extend over a year. We establish a preliminary schedule at the beginning of each project and coordinate it with the larger construction timeline.

Project budgets vary depending on the size and scope of the project, the level of construction involved, and the amount of custom work and furnishings required. We look at the overall investment as three main components: construction costs, furnishings and décor, and design fees.

Early in the process, we’ll discuss your priorities and budget to make sure they align with the scope of work. Once we understand your project, we can help establish realistic budget expectations and guide where to invest throughout the design.

Our design services are typically billed hourly, with invoices issued monthly based on the hours spent on the project. Before beginning, we provide an estimated range based on the anticipated scope and complexity of the work. For certain projects, we may also offer a fixed fee or a hybrid structure combining fixed and hourly fees when it makes sense for the scope.
